With 2022 in the rearview and an exciting new year ahead of us, we’ve gathered the experts at MHP/Team SI to discuss 2023 marketing predictions.
On the stand today is Blake Stanage, our director of video production. Blake’s team has produced excellent video work for our clients across Arkansas and the Mid-South over the past year. One of the most exciting things which has happened with Blake’s team over the past few months was the launch of Studio West, our new dedicated video space in West Little Rock.

The Continued Rise of Vertical Video
In the last couple of years, TikTok has transformed video production as short-form vertical videos have grown in popularity. Consumers often struggle to sit through minute-long or 30 second ads. Producers must tell their story in 15 seconds or less, or risk losing engagement. Other platforms have followed suit with their own successful versions such as Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and more that are likely to come.
Following this trend, our videographers here have been implementing vertical video into what they are already shooting. Shooting at high resolution such as 4K makes this conversion much easier. We have also learned that cutting long videos into shorter snippets is a definite way to increase interactions.
The Role of AI in Video Production
A potential game changer is the development of AI in video. AI can be helpful when it comes to data tracking or including additions like captions which can greatly improve a video’s outreach.
Of course, AI does not come without its complications. Ethical questions have already been raised in regards to new and improving developments like Deep Fakes and AI generated art.
Virtual Production
Virtual production allows both the videographer and the video talent to experience a virtual world in real time. This isn’t anything new, but each year seems to be becoming more prevalent and is starting to make its way into marketing agencies, big and small.
Walls of LED screens, projectors and green screens have all been used to provide creators with a real-time preview of the final product. Videographers can manipulate this virtual environment while viewing the final product through the camera. Popularity of virtual production has exploded since it’s been used in entertainment like Disney’s The Mandalorian. Slowly but surely, virtual production is becoming more accessible and more varied in its methods and potential.
Into the Metaverse?
When we look to the Metaverse, we’re likely looking beyond 2023. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be paying attention. Perhaps more than anyone else, video producers have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the Metaverse. With it comes more opportunities for AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality).
The role of video is only getting bigger and better in the world of marketing, so we look forward to seeing how technology advances and provides creators with more opportunities. There is still so much that has been left undefined or up in the air, but one thing is for sure: video will play a large role in this future.
