BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Sept. 28, 2023) — In recognition of Hunger Action Month, MHP/Team SI announced its Square Meals initiative raised $4,000 to benefit Northwest Arkansas Food Bank-affiliated food pantries.
“Raising funds and awareness about food insecurity in Arkansas is something our company is very passionate about,” said Sharon Tallach Vogelpohl, president and CEO of MHP/Team SI and president of the MHP/Team SI Family of Companies. “As we celebrate the success of Square Meals, we are thankful to the partner restaurants who participated and the community for coming together and helping us raise money for such an important cause here in Bentonville.”
Data from the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank show that 70,000 people in the region suffer from food insecurity, meaning they don’t know where their next meal is coming from. By dining at one of downtown Bentonville’s restaurants, the community was able to take initiative to combat food insecurity.
“We are grateful to have had the opportunity to partner with downtown Bentonville restaurants and MHP/Team SI for such a meaningful fundraising event,” said Lisa Martens, executive director of Second Street Pantry Missions in downtown Bentonville. “I’m proud of how much the community was able to raise by coming together for a common goal.”
Participating restaurants donated a portion of proceeds to Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, which distributed these funds to the affiliated Bentonville food pantries.
Participating establishments included:
- Tusk & Trotter
- Conifer
- The Hive
- Ozark Mountain Bagel
- Onyx Coffee Lab
- Bar Cleeta
- Airship Coffee
- Flying Fish
- The Big Lieutenant
